Fade to black -
The girl dances on.
The earth is a large place
You’re still young
The world’s your oyster
The girl dances on.

Up in the sky
The stars continue shining
The song keeps playing
A desolate tune;
An endless melody of life.

The clock strikes one;
The clock strikes ten.
The girl has changed
Nothing has changed.
She dances for the song of life
Each step; each twirl
A celebration of what may be.

Years pass, dust settles
The girl still dancs.
Her steps no longer joyous,
Her heart no longer in the song.
She flexes slowly, surely
As controlled as her movements are
She has lost faith and purpose in the dancec

Dreams no longer
No more wishes for tomorrow
Life is all too big
Too scary for the timid
“One day the meek will inherit the earth?”
She knows it for the lie it is.

She is now what she has always feared
Mediocre
Bland
A tiny insignificanty speck,
Nothing.

She wishes for yesterday
When falls were smaller
Mistakes led to laughter
When rainbows hung from the sky
And unicorns cantereed in the fields of her mind
